Va Form 26 1880

A Request for a Certificate of Eligibility is a document used by the Department of Veterans Affairs and is formally known as a VA Form 26-1880. This form is used by a veteran who wishes to determine their eligibility for a home loan guaranteed by the Department. This form collects personal and identifying information such as the veteran’s name, date of birth, and social security number. In addition, this form will require proof of the veteran’s military service.

This form is used by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The VA Form 26-1880 is known as a Request for a Certificate of Eligibility. The form will be used by a veteran who needs to determine their eligibility for a VA guaranteed home loan, which is a type of VA benefit.
This form will require identifying information from the applicant. This includes full name, address, VA claim number, date of birth, and social security number. The veteran will also need to detail their military service. This is what the Department of Veterans Affairs will use in order to determine the eligibility of the applicant. You may need to include other documentation that demonstrates proof of your military service as well.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a VA loan, veterans, active duty service members, National Guard members, and reservists must meet the basic service requirements set by the Department of Veterans Affairs.  The spouse of a military member who died while on active duty or as the result of a service-connected disability may also be eligible.

  • Apply through a VA approved lender
  • Apply online through the VA’s eBenefits portal
  • Apply by mail with VA Form 26-1880.  You should mail your completed application to the Regional Loan Center of jurisdiction.
