Atf Form 4473

An ATF Form 4473 is also known as the Firearms Transaction Record form. Licensed firearm dealers must complete this form when they may a lawful sale. Failure to complete this form is a violation of federal law. Additionally, licensed firearms dealers must keep a copy of the completed ATF Form 4473 on file for 20 years.

Atf Form 4473: What Is It?

This ATF form is used by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. It is known as the Firearms Transaction Record form. This form is required by law when someone is purchasing a firearm from a licensed retailer. Some individual dealers will also use this form.

This form requires a lot of personal information. Someone looking to purchase a firearm will need to list their full name, address, and date of birth. A government issued ID will also be required in order to fully complete this form. This could be a state identification card or a driver’s license.

This form must be kept for at least 20 years according to the ATF regulations. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives may request to look at it at any time. If someone closes their shop, they must give the ATF these forms.
