In Missouri, a month to month lease agreement is a contract that lays out an at-will tenancy agreement between a tenant and a landlord. This type of agreement differs from a long term agreement in the sense that the commitment is no longer a year, but simply one month. Month to month agreements are far more flexible and open-ended, meaning they renew automatically at the beginning of each month and will continue to do to so until either the tenant or the landlord terminates the lease. This document lays out the terms of the agreement such as when rent payments are due, rent amount, the rules of tenancy, and other pertinent terms of tenancy.
Missouri Month to Month Laws - Section 441.060
Minimum Month to Month Termination Period - 30 Days
According to Missouri tenant law, a landlord or tenant who wishes to terminate a lease must send the other party a termination letter in writing. Furthermore, this letter must terminate the lease on the periodic rent date for the following month. For example, if a tenant wishes to terminate a lease effective in September, they must submit a termination letter at the beginning of August.
